The Minuteman Bike Path is a Must See for Fall
Massachusetts is absolutely gorgeous during the Fall. We have tons of trees around here and they all turn beautiful colors of orange, reds, and yellows. The air has a cool crisp feeling to it, and smoke from chimneys just confirms that Fall is here. However, if you’re looking for a different place than Boston to take some gorgeous pictures, I have to recommend the Minuteman Bike Path.

The Minuteman Bike Path is a paved 10 mile stretch of trail that cuts from Bedford to Alewife Station. It’s not just for bicyclists, but joggers and walkers as well. My husband and I frequent this trail often and I personally feel like it’s most beautiful during the autumn months.

It’s believed that the trail follows the approximate path that Paul Revere took on that faithful night warning the young American public and calling the towns minutemen forces that “The British are Coming”. It trails through wooded areas which include a pond and a gorgeous field that is picture-perfect during the fall season.

Considering my husband and I often start the path where Arlington and Lexington meet we have two choices. If we head towards Arlington there are a lot more trees and the views can be absolutely stunning. Once you reach Arlington center, there’s a Starbucks where you can get a delicious coffee as well as see some old train tracks from 1846 when the line used to be a train station.

If you decide to go in the direction of Lexington you’ll find the same gorgeous treelined path. In all honesty, this is the way we mostly enjoy walking. There’s are bridges, a lake where you can watch the residential ducks and swans, there’s a gorgeous field that’s perfect for taking pictures. If you’re looking for wildlife, I’ve seen turtles, plenty of squirrels and birds, bunnies, and even a deer once.

The first time I saw the town of Lexington, it reminded me of Main St. USA in Disney’s Magic Kingdom. It’s what you would think of when you think of an all American town. There are stunning Victorian homes that can be seen off of the main street. The main street that cuts through Lexington has a lot to offer though. There’s a post office, a police station, several restaurants including a Panera, clothing shops, CVS, Starbucks, and Pete’s Coffee as well as an ice cream parlor called Rancatore’s Ice Cream and Yogurt. They like to make their own ice cream with fun new flavors. My favorite is called Tiger’s milk which tastes like the milk left over after you have frosted flake cereal.

Lexington contains a lot of history as well. After all the Lexington Battle green claims to be where the “shot heard around the world” happened and the start of the American Revolution began (Concord also claims this too). This Battle green is now a public park. There’s a field lined by trees and in the center is a large flagpole with the American flag proudly displayed. During nice weather, people can often be seen having picnics on this green. Of course, during the fall it’s a fantastic place to take selfies!
So this fall if you’re looking to travel to someplace new, check out Lexington and the minuteman bike path! If you’d like to be kept up to date on future posts please SIGN UP HERE! I hope you have a wonderful day!
