.) The Ouija Board, Gate to the Darkside, or Gate to our Psychology?: I grew up hearing terrifying stories of Ouija Boards and I remember wondering why something so dangerous was still being sold in stores. I also wondered how the company making these wasn’t being in the very least sued. Turns out there’s a lot more to the Ouija board than meets the eye and it’s not so much about ghosts as it is about your brain! Check out this article by Medical News Today!

.) Boys Use to Wear Pink and Girls Use to Wear Blue: October is a time of costumes and self-expression. While I hope that parents would be curious as to their children’s choice in costume, especially if it’s a gender-bent version of their favorite hero or heroine, the idea of pink for girls and blue for boys hasn’t always existed. THIS ARTICLE is all about the history of how men use to wear pink and girls use to wear blue!

.) The REAL STORY of the Wicked Witch of the West: The Wizard of Oz Costumes are still popular in this modern age. My mother even once did my dad’s make-up once for an office party to make him look like the Scarecrow. The witch (Margaret Hamilton) was the first movie my mother saw as an introduction to color tv. It was iconic and I can still remember her telling me how she gasped as a little girl when she saw that the witch was green.  The true story of Margaret Hamilton is one of bravery, honor, and keeping the magic of the movies alive for adults and children alike. I LOVED this article about her and I’m sure you will too. You can read it (and also listen to it) HERE.

.) The History of Chicken Feed or Candy Corn as We Now Know It: I have a love/hate relationship with candy corn. It doesn’t taste like anything but sugar and yet year after year I grab handful after handful and eat it during October. The fun fact though is that in the beginning, this was not only a candy that was eaten all year long but also a candy associated more with chickens than with Halloween. To find out why READ THIS ARTICLE.

.) LOOK OUT! It’s Pepper’s Ghost!!!: Is it a real ghost or just smoke and mirrors? Used by theater’s since the 1860s, and currently used by Disney most notably in the Haunted Mansion this. This optical illusion has stunned crowds for centuries, and now with THIS ARTICLE, you can find out how the magic happens!
