On my latest adventure, I visited Hammond Castle Museum, a breathtaking seaside castle in Gloucester, Massachusetts.
Nestled on the rocky coastline of New England, this historic estate feels like something straight out of a fairy tale. From its ocean views to the intricate stonework and hidden rooms, Hammond Castle is a must-see for anyone who loves history, architecture, or magical day trips.
The castle was built in the 1920s by John Hays Hammond Jr., a brilliant inventor who wanted to create a romantic, medieval-style fortress overlooking the Atlantic. It features a grand ballroom with a massive pipe organ that could be heard from boats passing by the estate, as well as a butler’s pantry, servants’ quarters, and countless rooms filled with artifacts collected from around the world.
In this blog post, I’ll take you through my first visit to Hammond Castle, share some behind-the-scenes moments, and show why it’s one of my favorite New England day trips so far.
