How to Make this Tropical Coconut-Lime Soap WITH A VIDEO!!!

I love really unique soaps. I also like saving money and you can do both! I made this Tropical Coconut Lime Soap a few weeks ago and I’ve been using it in the shower and it’s been amazing. It’s very hydrating on the skin and feels like I got it from a store at the mall. The smell of coconut and lime is so invigorating that it’s just perfect for morning showers.

The thing I really loved about this soap was how easy it was to make. Seriously, I was so scared to make soap because most soap recipes involve Lye which can cause blindness and skin burns! As someone who has two cats who seem constantly underfoot, that made me nervous.

My mother also made soap, but she used glycerine and to be honest, no offense to my mother, but the soap didn’t feel like the stuff you get from the stores. It was slippery but didn’t really foam up. My soap doesn’t use glycerine or Lye and foams up in the shower and the most you will have to do is grate a lime and use the double boiling method to melt the base.The recipe is as follows:

1. 3/4 pound melt and pour goat’s milk soap base

2. 2 tablespoons fresh lime zest

3. 10 drops coconut soap fragrance

4. Spray bottle of rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol)

5. Silicone soap mold

6. Large microwave-safe measuring cup

7. Microplane or cheese grater

1. Zest a lime using a cheese grater, and set the zest aside.

2. Cut the melt-and-pour goat’s milk soap base into cubes that are approximately an inch.

3. Microwave the soap for 30 seconds on high in a glass container, 10 seconds at a time until it’s completely smooth OR you can use the double boiler method if you want to have a bit more control over the melting process.

4. Add a tablespoon of lime zest and about 10 drops of coconut soap fragrance. Stir the mixture thoroughly and pour the mixture into the soap mold. Immediately sprinkle the remaining lime zest over the top.

5. Spritz the surface of the soap with rubbing alcohol to help pop any little bubbles that have floated to the top. However, if you skip this step it won’t really hurt te soap, you’ll just have little divets where the soap bubbles were.

6. Let the soap cool for at least two hours. Poke it gently to make sure it isn’t soft at all anymore, and then remove it from the mold.

7. Slice it into bars that are two inches wide and jump in the shower. I promise you’ll love it!
