How to Make an Energizing Coffee Soap

Updated: Dec 24, 2023

Nothing smells better in the morning than coffee…and I drink decaf!!! Coffee just has a naturally invigorating smell so I’m really happy to show you how to make this Coffee Soap! Not only does it smell fantastic, but the ground coffee acts as a mild exfoliant to give your skin a bit of a wake up as well! It’s currently my husband’s favorite soap!

I started drinking coffee when I was 14. My parents felt like that was an okay age for me to start and I can still remember my first cup and feeling so grown up. In college, I started struggling with major anxiety, and insomnia. To compensate I started adding more and more shots of expresso to my morning coffee and guess what? IT GOT WORSE! After doing some research I found that actually my problem wasn’t that I needed MORE COFFEE, but less. I am actually caffeine sensitive, meaning my body takes longer to process caffeine which means I can feel the effects LONG after. I actually have to be really careful with anything that has caffeine in it, which includes tea and chocolate. Once I switched to decaf, I found that while I still struggled with anxiety and insomnia, it was a lot more manageable.

I still love the smell of it though, especially in the morning. It’s just a great wake up kind of smell. I also think that having a shower first thing after something energizing like a good workout is the perfect combo to set me up for a really accomplished day!

1.) First, melt your soap base. You can do this by microwaving it in a microwave-safe bowl, OR you can use the double boiling method.

2.) Once your soap base is melted, you’ll add sixty drops of your coffee soap fragrance and all of your ground coffee beans. For some reason, the coffee fragrance was a bit shy to come through, which is why I added so many drops but trust me, in the end, it smelled excellent

3.) Pour the soap mixture into the Silicone soap mold and sprinkle the top with the rest of your ground coffee beans.

4.) Spray the top with rubbing alcohol to pop any little bubbles that have surfaced. Allow the soap to cool completely! At least 4-8 hours!

5.) Once your soap is cooled, cut it into small portions and enjoy!
